BARN TYPES

A note on barn types
Identifying barns can be more difficult than identifying the styles of houses. In order to properly assess a barn, a thorough review of all sides of the building and an examination of the interior are warranted. In the Erie survey of 2014, barn types were assigned on the basis of the photographs on the Erie County Assessor's website. These photos, while helpful, were not intended to help identify the barn type. While barn types can be distinctive, further examination could show that a given barn could be better classified into another type.
